The St. Louis Fed’s Burgundy Books
The Burgundy Books offer a summary of data on economic conditions in the Eighth Federal Reserve District, which is headquartered in St. Louis and includes branch offices in Little Rock, Louisville, and Memphis. The District includes the state of Arkansas and portions of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee.
The St. Louis Fed compiles publicly available data specific to the geographical areas of the Eighth District and publishes them four times per year in the Burgundy Books. The following agencies provide these data:
- Bureau of the Census, Federal Housing Financing Authority: MSA Housing Activity
- Bureau of Economic Analysis: Real Personal Income Growth
- Bureau of Labor Statistics: Nonfarm Payroll Employment Growth, Employment Growth by Sector, MSA Employment and Unemployment
- Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia: Coincident Economic Activity Index
The Burgundy Books offer a region-specific complement to the Beige Book (formally known as the Summary of Commentary on Current Economic Conditions), which is a collection of anecdotal data the Federal Reserve uses to help it assess current and future economic conditions.
Current Issue, March 23, 2012
The Burgundy Books are released at 1PM Central time.
