"River City . . . Mound City. . . the largest small town in the country . . . " *

St. Louis is a down-to-earth city on the banks of the Mississippi, with a thriving heritage and a wide range of attractions and distractions. (In fact, we offer more free, major visitor attractions than any place outside of the nation's capital.) It's a great place to live and visit:

A renowned symphony and historical/professional societies
A world-class botanical garden and zoo
Vibrant blues, jazz, and arts scenes
Outdoor activities (hunting, fishing, boating...)
Great professional and college sports teams

St. Louis offers a diversity of housing as well: trendy lofts downtown, charming Victorian townhomes, and brand-new homes on the outskirts. City or country, quiet or dynamic. It can all be found in the greater St. Louis area.

* The St. Louis region was home to the Mississippians, a mighty Indian civilization of mound builders. When that culture disappeared during Europe's Middle Ages, only their mysterious, earthen structures remained, earning St. Louis one of its nicknames, "Mound City."
